🌱September -
Senate Appointments: Senators are chosen by teachers/principals in late September.
Process: Either through application, interview, or combination!
Becoming a Senator: You do not need any previous experience to join the Student Senate, only a passion for student voice, advocacy and leadership! All students are ecouraged to apply.
🎃 October -
Monthly Senate Meetings Begin: Regular meetings start the first week of October.
🍁November -
External Senate Subcommittee Opens: Want to get involved or involved primarily with the Senate? Applications open in November! Make sure to check Instagram and your email for announcements, and redirect to the website during this time to find the link.
❄️ January-February -
Trustee Elections:
Info meetings and campaigning start in mid-to-late January.
Elections take place in early February.
🌸 May -
Halton Youth Leadership Symposium (HYLS): Held in late May at a public school in Halton, which is the highlight of the year for student leaders and the largest Senate initiative.
📌 June -
Year end comes around and Executive Council Members and Subcommittee Leads submit their Terms of Reference, on the impact and descriptions of their role for our year end newsletter, available on our website to view!
