Be it resolved that the Student Senate approves that The HDSB Student Senate goals for the 2021-2022 school year are rooted in the areas of Equity & Inclusion, Indigenous Rights, Environmental Sustainability, Mental Health & Well-being (with an emphasis on health and safety in schools), and Learning & Achievement. Through these actionable goals, the Student Senate aims to advocate for improved education and accessibility of board resources and opportunities, greater transparency, and student consultation on board decisions impacting student experience.

  1. Be it resolved that the Student Senate approves the Student Senate Norms for the 2021-2022 school year. Specifically:

    • Whereas the HDSB Student Senate believes it is essential to have a set of guidelines which outline the norms and values we follow as we work together as senators, staff and trustees

    • Whereas the Student Senate recognizes the importance of fostering a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all members

    • Whereas both elementary and secondary student senators jointly created these norms and values as guidelines for conducting the work of the senate for the 2021-2022 school year

    • Whereas members of the HDSB Equity Team have provided guidance on norm setting and shared feedback on the final version of the norms

1. Be it resolved that the Student Senate approved the appointment of Jay Rancourt (Elementary) as the representative on the HDSB Mental Health Committee for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year

2. It is recognized by the students of the Halton District School Board Student Senate that Mental Health should be a priority throughout all grades 7-12 of the Halton District Schoolboard. Furthermore it is recognized that there needs to be a highlight on community building throughout the HDSB for the mental wellbeing of students. Therefore be it resolved there will be a Mental Health Poster Contest broadcasted throughout grades 7-12 of the HDSB that will provide resources for Mental Health support for students
